Ford never runs out of ideas when it’s time to design special editions of models that are nearing the end of their lifecycle. Obviously, the goal of this exercise is to give a boost to slumping sales. The results are not always successful, but this time, I must admit that the automaker hit the bull’s eye. (more…)
First of all, I’ll admit that Ford successfully resurrected the famous Mustang of Steve McQueen. In 1968, the now deceased actor played Franck Bullitt, an honest, cold-blooded police lieutenant whose superiors asked him to protect a witness during an inquiry commission. Following an attack against said witness, he took off with his 1968 Highland Green Mustang in a memorable car chase through the streets of San Francisco. When customers take their new Ford Flex for its first spin this summer, they may be surprised by what’s missing: the noise.
Flex delivers a quieter ride than competitors including the Acura MDX, Toyota Highlander and GMC Acadia, according to Ford tests. That’s good news for customers, who tend to directly relate a vehicle’s quietness with its quality, says Derrick Kuzak, Ford’s group vice president of Global Product Development. “Quietness is a very good proxy for quality in a vehicle.” (more…)
