Hamilton promised McLaren LM supercar for title win
Lewis Hamilton has been promised a $4 million McLaren supercar for free - if he wins the world titles this year. The 23-year-old British driver told The Sun newspaper that he first clapped eyes on the ultra-rare McLaren LM in the team’s F1 factory ten years ago. “When I first went to McLaren it was there and I fell in love with it,” he said of the orange LM, one of only five such cars in the world. Dennis, 60, says Hamilton can have the car if he wins the 2008 title, and McLaren is... Full article...

Volkswagen may bid on Yugo, um, we mean Zastava
Click above for more pics of the Zastava Skala 55It was just the other day that we looked back at the automotive punchline that was the Yugo in America. In all actuality, though, the Serbian automaker Zastava that's currently for sale, has plenty to offer prospective buyers. This fact is evidenced by reports that Volkswagen is considering bidding on the ex-Yugoslavian company. Zastava is the only automaker based in Serbia, and has a number of factories and excess production capacity which could prove... Full article...

Strike may shut first GM car plant
General Motors Corp., with light-truck output slowed by a strike at a supplier, may shut its first car assembly plant by April 4, a union chief said. The American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings Inc. walkout threatens to deprive GM's Lordstown, Ohio, factory of a brake part, which would halt work on the Chevrolet Cobalt, said Jim Graham, president of United Auto Workers Local 1112. Such a shutdown would escalate the strike's effect on GM, the world's largest automaker. The 29-day walkout so far has... Full article...

Ford unloads Jaguar, Land Rover to Tata
Ford Motor Co.'s agreement to sell Jaguar and Land Rover to India's Tata Motors Ltd. marks the end of its Premier Automotive Group -- the international luxury collection that was the centerpiece of former CEO Jacques Nasser's failed attempt to transform the Dearborn automaker from an American icon into a truly global automotive empire. Under the terms of the deal, which was announced Wednesday, Ford will receive about $2.3 billion for the two British brands. That money will do little to offset the... Full article...

Not over yet: eBay buyer still trying to get M3 from BMW dealer
Ken Tanisaka's battle to get his M3 sedan from BMW of Lincoln, Nebraska is not over, despite encouraging words posted by Ken himself on Monday. While the embattled eBay winner had reported that he would be sold the brand new M3 sedan for his winning bid of $60,000, there were "special conditions" that had yet to be discussed. Having spoken with the dealership now, as well as retained his own attorney who specializes in internet law, Ken has revealed what the conditions are. First, the dealership asked... Full article...

BMW 1 Series offers great ride, but comes with steep price tag
Finally, a BMW under $30,000 that is not used, reclaimed from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina or sold in the back lot of a chop shop. Of course, if you decide to add an HD Radio and iPod adaptor, or Xenon headlights, or pay sales taxes, the 2008 BMW 1 Series is going to top the 30-grand threshold. I like the luxury European compact cars now rolling onto America's streets. It's an interesting segment to watch, and one that's going to continue to grow. The Audi A3 and the Volvo C30 rev well in the... Full article...

Ford set to announce sale of Jaguar, Land Rover to Tata on Wednesday
Could the protracted sale of Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford to Tata finally be coming to an end? After learning last week that Tata has secured the financing required to make the deal possible, reports are coming from London's Financial Times suggesting that the official announcement of the sale, reportedly worth $2 billion, could come as soon as on Wednesday, when Jaguar workers return to work after enjoying their Easter holiday. This sale, of course, follows up Ford's sale of Aston Martin, leaving a... Full article...

Internet FTW! BMW buyer getting M3 thanks to pressure from web
We're betting M3post.com forum member, dooma350, had no idea that his call for help with a shady transaction on eBay Motors would become what it did. After winning a new BMW M3 Sedan on the online auction site from BMW of Lincoln, Nebraska, the dealership refused to sell the car despite there being no reserve price, claiming the auction was a "mistake". dooma350's single post for help on a forum led to an internet-based outcry on his behalf, with lawyers offering free advice, other websites like ours... BMW dealer auctions new M3 for $60K on eBay, doesn't want to honor the deal
var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/autos/Dealer_auctions_new_M3_for_60K_on_eBay_doesn_t_honor_deal'; Apparently all is not kosher in corn country. BMW of Lincoln, Nebraska posted an auction on eBay for a brand new M3 Sedan for $60,000. Perhaps they were hoping for the kind of eBay madness that would push the price to six figures something other dealers are doing right on the show floor. If that's what they were after, well, they didn't get it. The car was won by a gentleman in California for the listed... Full article...
