Alfa Romeo design chief resigns
Along with Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati, Alfa Romeos personify the image of Italian motoring with their sporty overtones and curvaceous lines, however some of the brand’s most admired models were in fact created by an American designer. Now, less than a year out from Alfa Romeo’s official return to the U.S., American Frank Stephenson, has quit his role as chief designer. Cars developed under his guidance include the first Alfa Romeo in years to be headed for the U.S., the new 8C Competizione... Full article...

Hyundai Matrix
South Korean auto manufacturer Hyundai has released official photos of the new C-segment Matrix MPV scheduled to go on sale in the European market. This is the first major facelift since the original vehicle, designed by Pininfarina, was launched in 2001.   The new vehicle exhibits many of the styling themes seen on Hyundai production and concept vehicles - such as the i10 and i30. The front end is defined by a slim upper grille supported by reverse trapezoid lower intake and the headlamps have... Full article...

Mazda Hakaze in the rippled metal
We have already seen media pics of the Mazda Hakaze. We even have all of the details about the mechanicals. What we didn't have until today are live shots and personal impressions of what it's really like in the "flesh." Well, thanks to our own Damon Lavrinc in Geneva, we do now. He describes it as "ambitious," "beautifully fluid", and, when referring to all of Mazda's recent concepts, a "modern Pininfarina with a Japanese flare." It brings some cohesion to recent... Alfa Romeo 3.2 V6
Fortunately, such nonsense has yet to filter through to Alfa Romeo's design studios! Here, the only brief for a new car is to make it sexy, fast and desirable. The all-new Brera, which replaces the much-loved but ageing GTV, is an Alfa from the old school. Due to hit the UK next April, the powerhouse coupe will top the firm's restructured line-up. Two engines will be available from launch: a base 2.2-litre four-cylinder unit and a range-topping 3.2-litre V6, which is linked to a new hi-tech... Full article...

Fioravanti Hidra
This design is a progression of the Fioravanti Thalia design presented last year in Geneva, differing mostly in its rear aspect where it has a lower roof line. The overall theme is of a svelte coupesque estate with similar dimensions to the Pininfarina Sinseti also debuting in Geneva. In typical Fioravanti fashion, the car showcases a new functional design solution and has a delicate design language quite different to the zeitgeist of today. Designed by Matteo Fioravanti, the core motif of the design is... Full article...

BMW Concept CS
The CS, which would be properly viewed as more of a competitor for the upcoming Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapide, measures 200.8 in. in overall length and is a further refinement of chief designer Chris Bangle's "flame" surfacing that features strong character lines and sculpted body panels. The most noticeable elements in the car's profile are its long hood and generous dash-to-axle ratio, which contribute greatly to the car's coupelike proportions. The car's athletic looks are...
