Another GT-R bites the dust
Click above for more pics of this bashed up Nissan GT-R This isn't the first Nissan GT-R to find itself looking like an accordion. We brought you another shattered GT-R in Hong Kong in early January, and a GT-R fender bender a few days later in Shibuya Tokyo. An Autoblog tipster just sent us a link to yet another bashed-up GT-R in Malaysia. As a purely objective observation, the latest incident does a decent job of demonstrating the integrity of the Nissan GT-R's safety cage. Too bad it's at the expense... Full article...

Next Mustang and Falcon to share new RWD platform
In a move similar to GM’s plan to bring rear-drive Australian vehicles to U.S. shores, rival carmaker Ford is also planning to beef up its product lineup with some much needed RWD models. The new cars will be based around a single platform, in line with Ford’s new strategy of global platform sharing, and will eventually spawn the next-generation Mustang and Falcon models current version pictured as well as new sedans for both Ford North America and Lincoln. Despite Australia’s expertise in RWD... Full article...

Lexus brand isn't flying in Toyota's home market
In trying to establish a Japanese-market foothold for Lexus, Toyota has seemingly fallen prey to the same tactic that made the Cadillac Cimmaron such a maroon. When trying to launch a brand, especially an upscale brand, it's not advisable to rebadge existing models and crank up the price. It doesn't seem to matter how good the car is, or how swanky the new $10-million-a-pop showroom is, once an Altezza, always an Altezza, and paying 20 percent more for the same car with a different logo is rightfully... Australia, where such vehicles remain popular, had emerged as Ford's center for rear-wheel-drive development. But changing economics have convinced the company to bring the program back to Dearborn. OUR SAFETY REGULATIONS ARE A CHARADEWhen I was growing up as a kid, cars didn't have a whiff of safety equipment. No seatbelts. No headrests. No collapsible steering columns. No nothing. On long trips my dad would even let me or one of my brothers lie on the package shelf behind the back seat. And we weren't the only ones. That was a pretty common practice back then.Even so, up through the 1960s, the United States had the best traffic safety record in the world. But as the population continued to grow... Infiniti announces the FX35... still not the FX37
Click above for high-res gallery of the 2009 Infiniti FXIt is official. The all-new 2009 FX50 will not share the showroom floor with a rumored "FX37." Instead, Infiniti has chosen to keep the less-powerful sibling designated as the "FX35." That means the engine is the award-winning VQ35HR right out of the Infiniti G35 sedan -- not the sweet 3.7-liter 330-hp gem from the G37 Coupe. Under the hood of the FX, the slightly smaller six-cylinder is rated at 303 hp down just a few horses from the sedan's... Full article...

Kelley Blue Book hands out 2008 Brand Image Awards
Automakers work very hard at the branding process, which takes years and years of effort to achieve. For instance, when a consumer hears Porsche, he or she likely sthink of sports cars and iconic design principles -- despite the fact that the German brand sells plenty of SUVs, too. And when a brand starts to get a negative image, it can take years to overcome that bad stigma -- just ask Ford. So, with all of this in mind, Kelley Blue Book has announced the winners of its 2008 Brand Image Awards, which... Full article...
