The New Jaguar XF Is The Least Jaguar-ish Car Ever- Is That A Good Or A Bad Thing?
I've seen the new XF a number of times at the auto shows and now cruising the streets of SoCal and the one thing that keeps going round and round in my mind is that it really ISN'T a Jaguar anymore. My best description is that it looks like a Lexus GS re-designed by the English with a Lincoln/Mercury interior all the silver buttons/switchgear that make it look like a cheap Technics stereo component. It DRIVES better than virtually every Jag EVER made but to us it's lost its soul. But the REAL question is... Ford Extends Most Drivetrain Warranties to 100,000 Miles
Ford Motor Company has significantly improved its Service Part Limited Warranty coverage on both new and remanufactured gas engine and transmission assemblies, increasing the terms from 3-years/75,000 miles to 3-years/100,000 miles, effective April 1, 2008. “This warranty enhancement not only matches the terms of competitive automakers in the aftermarket industry, but it exceeds their coverage in a significant way,” said Steve Lopez, Ford’s transmission product marketing manager. ... HongQi announces new photochopped Lincoln MKT crossover!
How brazen can you get? At least most of the Chinese auto-cloners automakers create their own renderings of the cars they are copying. HongQi, a "premium" brand produced by First Auto Works in China simply grabbed a couple of press shots of the Lincoln MKT concept from the Ford Media site and starting 'chopping. Regardless of what you might think of Lincoln's new styling direction generally, we like it, the Chinese version is not easy on the eyes. You would think with three months to work on it since... Ford gets dinged again for Bridgestone debacle, lawyers make out like bandits
By now everyone knows the story about Bridgestone's massive recall of tires that were used as original equipment on Ford Explorers from 1991 to 2001. The faulty tires had been linked to some fatal crashes that were caused by either blowouts or the tread separating from the tires. Many people who own Explorers from this period were miffed that the value of their SUVs dropped solely on account of Bridgestone's mistake, so they did what most Americans do when they're angry: they sued Ford. Yesterday a... Full article...

Judge approves Ford Explorer rollover settlement
Ever since a string of fatal rollovers during the 1990s, the Ford Explorer SUV has had a stigma of being dangerous despite the reason behind the accidents – poorly designed Firestone tires – being resolved. A California judge has now approved the settlement for a class-action case that will compensate roughly 800,000 Ford Explorer owners who claim their vehicles had lost value because of the original controversy. The decision also brings an end to the lawsuit filed against Ford in the states of... Full article...

In the Autoblog Garage: 2008 F-350 King Ranch [w/VIDEO]
Autoblog drives the 2008 F-350 King Ranch DuallyIt isn't very often we get the opportunity to drive a vehicle with four wheels at the rear axle, so we were more than happy to parade around town with a completely loaded 2008 F-350 King Ranch for a week. With $4.20 per gallon diesel and an average of 11 mpg for this monster truck, it would run us about $140 just to fill the tank, so we probably wouldn't be as interested in a long-term engagement. For those of you who use your truck to pay the bills... Full article...

Quality gain has hitch for Ford dealers
Ford Motor Co. is improving the quality of its cars and trucks but, in an ironic twist, the gains come at a price for dealers who have come to depend on regular warranty work to keep their stores in the black. Dealers know that having better vehicles will help them in the long run, but they are looking to the automaker for help developing other parts of their business to offset the loss in warranty business. This week, Ford delivered with several new programs. "We are working on giving them the tools to... Full article...

'Drive One' campaign: Ford hopes real people inspire sales
LAS VEGAS -- For most of his career at Ford Motor Co., engineer Stephen Kozak has just wanted people to know how safe he has helped make the company's cars and trucks. Now, he has the chance to tell them himself. Kozak is one of dozens of Ford employees who is appearing in Ford television and Internet advertisements as part of the company's new "Drive One" campaign, which was formally launched this week on Fox's "American Idol." "It's probably the most exciting thing I've ever done for the company," he... Full article...
