Hyundai looks to exceptional Genesis to create new image | The Detroit News | detnews.com
CHICAGO -- When I first saw the 2009 Hyundai Genesis, I thought it looked nice in a nondescript sort of way. There's no badge embossed on the grille, but its shoulders are wide and there's a sense of power to it. But when I parked on the street in Chicago, it seemed everyone walked by it, smiling, nodding in approval, stopping by to tell me how nice the car was. Honestly, I wasn't expecting that kind of reaction. Standing in the middle of Koreatown on the north side of the Windy City may have had... Full article...

By the Numbers - November 2008: Brother, Can You Spare a Dime Edition
While the Detroit 3 have their hands out in front of Congress, the entire U.S. auto industry turned in a report of dismal November sales today. Every major automaker saw its sales crash and crash hard last month, and the only brand to gain ground was MINI, which saw sales jump 43% on account of last year's numbers being artificially low because production of the then-new Coopers couldn't meet demand.Credit, we suppose, should also be given to Lincoln and Subaru, each of which posted only a single-digit... FORD CEO Alan Mulally Will Drive to Washington D.C. To BEG For Money - But What Car Will He Drive To D.C.? His Lexus, OR Perhaps Maybe a Ford Product?
Alan Mulally caught a lot of flack when he took over at Ford Motor Company in September of 2006.  He stated publicly that he would continue to drive his Lexus LS430 until such time as Ford built a car comparable to the Lexus. My how times have changed.Lambasted in front of Congress two weeks ago for flying in corporate jets, Alan Mulally is driving to D.C. with the intention of begging Congress for bailout money. But the bigger question lingers, will Alan make the trip in his Lexus - or will a new... Mulally driving to Washington, but what car should he drive?
It seems the entire world is still debating whether or not Rick Wagoner, Alan Mulally and Bob Nardelli should have carpooled, walked or taken the bus for their last trip to the Capitol, but that's all behind us now. The good news for those who like to play expert on the internet is that Detroit's got another date with Congress this week. Ford CEO Alan Mulally is the first of the three CEOs to announce that he'll be driving, though we expect the others to follow suit shortly. There's no doubt that... Full article...

Ford adds plant shifts | The Detroit News | detnews.com
Workers at some Ford Motor Co. factories in Metro Detroit are getting rare good news this holiday season. As the Dearborn automaker ramps up production of its new F-150 pickup, it's adding shifts at some plants and recalling hundreds of idled workers out of its jobs bank. Ford told workers at its axle plant in Sterling Heights that it will add a second shift on Dec. 8. "We've been going nowhere but downhill for a year and half," said Sterling Heights worker Brian Pannebecker. "Now we're finally getting... Full article...
