Behemoths to the fore in Frankfurt as sales window threatens to shut | detnews.com | The Detroit News
-- It will be like going to one of Frank Sinatra's final performances for visitors to the Frankfurt Car Show. They will come away saying we might never see the likes of that again. Children and grandchildren will one day hear barely believable tales of long extinct, gas guzzling 150 mph beasts like Rolls-Royces, Bentleys, Ferraris, Aston Martins, Jaguars and Porsches which were on show at the 2009 Frankfurt Car Show. Anybody could buy them, as long as they had the money. The global car industry is on... Full article...

-- Ford Motor Co. endorsed a bill in Congress Thursday to ban hand-held text messaging while driving. A Senate version, sponsored by Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., would withhold highway funding to states that didn't adopt a ban. Peter Lawson, Ford's vice president for government relations, said in an interview the Dearborn automaker was endorsing the Schumer bill that he called a "common-sense measure." The bill would not prohibit people from using Ford's Sync system or other systems to send hands-free... Full article...

Jaguar XFR is powerful luxury | detnews.com | The Detroit News
A couple of months ago, I wrote about the 2010 Jaguar XF and praised its combination of luxury and performance. Now, I just think it's OK. I should have driven the XFR before I started talking about performance. This car bolts like lightening while keeping the same luxurious demeanor as its sibling that lacks an R at the end of its name. The power numbers alone are impressive: 5-liter supercharged V-8, 510 horsepower, 461 pound-feet of torque -- more than a 20 percent jump in power over the 4.2-liter... Full article...

But for the first time in nearly 10 years, the modern interpretations of three classic pony cars are available as new models: the Mustang... Full article...
