In The Autoblog Garage: BMW X6 XDrive 35i
Click above for high-res gallery of the BMW X6 XDrive 35i You know things have gone awry when BMW now offers three different flavors of non-cars, all of them antithetical to the Bavarian brand's classical claim to fame. The X6 is the latest addition to the range, joining the X3 and X5, and BMW is calling it a Sports Activity Coupe, creating an acronym that's oddly prescient for a vehicle that's essentially a post-bris X5. Beyond the looks that are an acquired taste, we wanted to know if there's BMW... Full article...

Nissan back on for Chicago Auto Show, still avoiding Detroit
That was short lived. Just a few days after announcing that it would be pulling out of both the Detroit Auto Show and the Chicago Auto Show, Nissan has changed its mind. Sort of. The Japanese automaker will indeed have a presence in the Windy City thanks to the support of its local dealerships, which will be manning the show in lieu of an official factory effort. This being the case, don't expect a particularly showy display, but at least attendees will get the chance to see the new 370Z, Cube and... Full article...

Sport Sedan Shootout: Two Wannabes, One Winner
So you've got about $40 grand to play with, and...wait a minute. Actually, these days you probably don't. For that matter, neither do I or my cohorts in this comparative venture, Automotive Editor John DiPietro and Associate Editor Mark Takahashi. Nonetheless, what would you do if a 2009 Acura TL SH-AWD, a 2009 Infiniti G37 Journey and a 2009 Volkswagen CC VR6 4Motion magically appeared in your garage? You'd grab the keys and head for the hills, that's what. And that's exactly what the three of us did... Full article...

Moving on up! Chinese automakers move out of Cobo basement thanks to Detroit no-shows
With the pull out of Porsche, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Ferrari, Land Rover and Rolls-Royce, Nissan and Infiniti from this year's Detroit Auto Show in January, there's a lot of empty space on the show floor of Cobo Hall that needs to be filled. Chinese automakers will be the direct beneficiary of everyone's lack of interest in Detroit, as both BYD Auto and Brilliance will be moved out of the basement, otherwise known as Michigan Hall, and onto the main floor of Cobo for the first time. They'll be occupying... Full article...

Nissan and Infiniti Pull Out of 2009 Detroit and Chicago Auto Shows
More bad news for the organizers of the 2009 Detroit Auto Show as less than eight weeks before the Cobo Hall opens its doors to the press and public alike in mid-January, Nissan and its luxury affiliate Infiniti have canceled plans to participate at the supposedly largest auto gathering in North America. The Japanese automaker has also withdrawn from the forthcoming Chicago Auto Show in February, citing in both cases "depressed economic conditions".[source] Full article...

Nissan pulls out of Detroit and Chicago auto shows
Following the lead of Porsche, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Ferrari, Land Rover and Rolls-Royce, Nissan has announced that it won't be present at the 2009 North American International Auto Show, otherwise known as the Detroit Auto Show. But Japan's third largest automaker is going one step further than the others and also pulling out of the Chicago Auto Show in February. You may recall that Nissan blew its wad, so to speak, at last week's LA Auto Show where it unveiled the new 370Z, Cube and Infiniti G37... Full article...

Nissan to skip auto show | The Detroit News | detnews.com
Nissan Motor Co. became the first major automaker to pull out of the North American International Auto Show when it announced Monday that it would not attend the Detroit and Chicago shows to save cash. Nissan already has unveiled the next three additions to its U.S. lineup -- the Nissan Cube compact, the Nissan 370Z sports car and the premium Infiniti G37 convertible, all shown last week at the Los Angeles car show. In weighing whether to come to Detroit, "we felt this was probably right now, not the... Full article...
