Switzerland considers banning sportscars SUVs everything
Switzerland is not the most car-friendly place on earth. Odd, then, that after Monaco, the mountainous country is one of the most popular residence choices for F1 drivers. But this just puts it over the top. The Swiss Green Party is proposing legislation that would effectively ban supercars. Most sportscars, actually. And SUVs. More than a few luxury sedans, too. Even some small hatchbacks. The proposed regulations would ban any vehicle over 4800 lbs in weight, producing more than 250 grams of CO2 per... Full article...

Ford revs in quality survey
Ford Motor Co.'s three domestic brands all received above-average marks in J.D. Power and Associates' influential annual survey of vehicle dependability, but several General Motors Corp. brands slipped in the rankings and all Chrysler LLC brands remained well below the industry average, led by a steep decline for Jeep. Toyota Motor Corp. continued to dominate the top of the chart, with its luxury Lexus brand holding on to first place with 120 problems reported per 100 vehicles. Ford's Mercury brand --... Volkswagen Tiguan is fun to drive, hard to pronounce
Millions of dollars are spent every year by auto marketing departments to determine the best name for a vehicle. Not all of this money is spent wisely. Ford Motor Co. revived its MK naming system for Lincoln. Is it "MK" or is it "Mark"? Perhaps Ford's MK Fields could clarify? Hyundai Motor Co. confirms that spaghetti Westerns dominate late night television in South Korea with its Santa Fe and Tucson. No doubt the OK Corral, Wyatt Earp edition is on its way. This brings us to the Volkswagen Tiguan... Full article...

2009 Forester: Fun, roomy and practical
It has been brought to my attention that there are places in the United States where it snows. I was, at first, incredulous. Well, fine, says I. That may be. But why would anyone live in a place where ordinary water turns to a slick, frozen and uncooperative substance that collapses roofs and makes important body parts turn blue, especially when there are so many nice overpasses to live under here in Southern California? I mean, snow, right? You can ski on it. And yet -- I have this on good authority --... Full article...

Hyundai HED-5
Hyundai's HED-5 ‘i-Mode' six-seat MPV appears large in person and features certain polarizing features, which seem to mix three concepts into one. Convex and concave surfaces combine with a wedged side profile and a rounded front and rear, to give the appearance of a bow under pressure. But one of the most intriguing aspects are the negatively arching 'A and a half'-pillar and C-pillars, emphasized by almond shaped quarter-lights. There seems to be a conscious attempt not to follow usual... Full article...
