Luxury car crossovers expected to revive sales | detnews.com | The Detroit News
The new car market may be severely depressed but automakers are counting on one segment to buck the downward trend. The industry expects consumer interest in small premium crossovers to grow and consequently the number of entries in the sector is expanding dramatically. The upscale small sport utility vehicle format was successfully established several years ago by Lexus with the RX300, and since then a few primary rivals have emerged, such as the Acura MDX, Infiniti EX35 and BMW X3. But this year a... Full article...

Cargo carrier takes weight off | detnews.com | The Detroit News
Serge Agopian and his family and friends were talking one day about how easy it was to wheel their groceries from the store to their vehicles in a shopping cart, but how cumbersome it was to make many trips from the car to the kitchen once they got home. There must be an easier way, they thought. Agopian, of Oxnard, Calif., did more than think about it. He went to work and created the Autocart portable cargo carrier and started a company to build it. The company is Jackson Cargo Management Solutions... Full article...

Lexus 2009 GS 450h exudes luxury and attitude | detnews.com | The Detroit News
So must be the creed of the drivers of America's No. 1 selling luxury brand. While I have no statistical data to support my theory that Lexus drivers collectively exhibit the worst roadside manners in the U.S., I have plenty of anecdotal evidence: The Lexus driver on her cell phone in California who nearly ran me off the road in Westwood. The South Florida Lexus driver on his cell phone using the emergency lane to bypass traffic. Other Lexus drivers cutting me off, tailgating me or the never even seeing... Full article...
