REPORT: Tata and Mahindra interested in HUMMER

If you've got one, an Indian automaker wants to buy it. At least that's the way it seems after learning that two Indian automakers, Tata and Mahindra, have approached General Motors to purchase the HUMMER brand. GM only announced that it would begin considering what to do with HUMMER this week. Tata has already gobbled up Jaguar... Full article...

Economy shifts road rules into idle lanes
Is it just me or are there more drivers on the roads now who oh-so-slowly start up after a stoplight turns green or after stopping at a stop sign? I can't exactly call what they do "accelerating," because their putt-putt pace stacks up other cars behind them and prevents some other drivers from making it through the green light. These slow-but-sure drivers don't seem to mind. They're busy trying to stretch their $4-a-gallon gasoline. Idling in the drive-throughBut if these people are so concerned about... Full article...

Hummer could go to India’s Tata or Mahindra
Hummer could be the next acquisition target on Tata’s list now that its purchase of Jaguar and Land Rover is complete. The Indian conglomerate has previously expressed interest in developing more SUV models, especially for the U.S. market, and with Land Rover already in its hands Hummer could be next. This week GM announced it will conduct a strategic review of Hummer with the possibility it could be sold, either partially of fully. Now, India’s Economic Times is reporting that that bankers... Economic woes dent luxury market
America's love affair with easy credit and cheap gasoline has hit a dead end. Living large -- as economists came to call it in recent years -- consumers grew accustomed to piling on debt to refurbish bathrooms, add a sprawling deck, or embark on a cruise. Wants often trumped needs. The same families that stretched their finances to get into a new five-bedroom brick manse in recent years are now coming to terms with the pricey Explorer and Cadillac they aspired to own and park in the three-car garage...
