Hengst Ford Mustang GT with 365HP
German-tuner Hengst, led by BMW-specialist Peter Grassl, has released a new tuning kit for the Ford Mustang GT that draws obvious inspiration from the customizing scene where the car originally came from. German firms are recognized mostly for improving performance, be it aerodynamic upgrades or more power, however Grassl’s new design is characterized by its oversized wheels, retro interior and myriad of electronic gadgets. While the factory Mustang GT gets over 330hp from its 4.6L engine, Grassl... Full article...

BMW to build Alfa Romeos in U.S.?
Earlier this week Fiat boss Sergio Marchionne revealed his desire to partner with an American carmaker over a deal to build Alfa Romeos in the U.S., but according to latest reports BMW could be the carmaker Fiat signs up with. Alfa Romeo has been planning its 2009 North American relaunch for years but the recent weakening in the U.S. dollar against the euro has thrown a spanner in the works. The best solution is to start manufacturing cars locally but Alfa Romeo will need help. Although teaming with one... Full article...

BMW mulls downsizing M engines, adding turbos
BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer recently revealed plans to phase out diesel V8 engines across the board, but as drastic as this sounds it could be just the tip of the iceberg for the carmaker’s future plans to shakeup its powertrain lineup. BMW’s hallowed ‘M’ division could also be affected by the new wave of environmental consciousness sweeping carmakers across the world, the end result being smaller engines and turbochargers in future M cars. Speaking with Auto Motor and Sport, Reithofer said BMW... Full article...

eBay Find of the Day: 2006 Ford GT, untitled, signed by Steve Saleen
Click above above for high-res gallery of this never-owned 2006 Ford GTIt should come as no big surprise to any of our regular readers that this blogger is a big fan of Italian supercars. But although it was built to show up the Italian greats in tribute to a race car that did the same decades prior, the Ford GT remains an undeniably cool car, a supercar that seems to have been milled from a solid block of billet aluminum. Unfortunately, Ford stopped building them over a year ago, leaving the myriad... Full article...

Ford Australia denies American RWD platform development
That didn't take long. After Monday's article in the Detroit News reporting that Ford's U.S. operations were going to be developing its own RWD platform here in the States, the FoMoCo crew from Down Under refutes that story saying, "It's too early to speculate on that." With the dollar not holding up like it used to, the idea that Stateside Ford engineers would develop their own left-hand drive, RWD architecture seems sound, especially considering that the Falcon's underpinnings can't support switching... KANSAS CITY, Mo . -- General Motors Corp . has agreed to settle a series of class-action lawsuits claiming a faulty engine coolant damaged thousands of customer vehicles. Under the settlement, GM would reimburse class members between $50 and $800 for repairs linked to Dex-Cool, an orange coolant that GM included in cars and trucks beginning in 1995. The total cost to GM will depend on the number of customers claiming damages, but the plaintiffs' attorneys estimate the settlement could cover up to 20... Full article...

No end in sight to strike against Axle
DETROIT -- The longest automotive strike in a decade turns 1 month old today, leaving American Axle losing millions, striking workers scrimping on $200 weekly strike pay -- and no end in sight. But while both American Axle and the United Auto Workers are suffering, each side says they have much more to lose if they give in. The company and its workers aren't the only ones losing, either: A new report estimates the strike has put as many as 40,000 out of work at related companies and is hampering the... Full article...
