New 2010 VW Beetle Rendering Speculation
Volkswagen is planning to produce all-new Beetle, which is reportedly on imprints for a 2010 launch. The new VW Beetle will once again be styled in California and engineered in Germany. It will be allotment a platform with the next-generation Rabbit and the new Scirocco. The next-generation Beetle, on the other hand, is a stab to stray from the ‘hatchling car’ copy close to it in the previous days. To make a more expensive and rotund recent look and fashion, a VW team of designers use... Full article...

Buying an old VW an excuse for adventure | detnews.com | The Detroit News
Dear Tom and Ray: I just turned 40, ughhhh, so I guess I have hit my "midlife crisis." Unlike my friends, I don't want a Porsche or a Ferrari. I want a late-'50s to early-'60s VW Bug. That's right, a VW Bug. I live in Kentucky, and you are more likely to find a vintage Camaro or Mustang than an old VW that still has a floor. I have, however, found several for sale at very reasonable prices in the Southern California area. Herein lies my question, oh esteemed wrench heads. Would I be crazy to fly to Los... TOKYO -- Honda Motor Co. said today it is cutting production in Japan and North America by an additional 50,000 vehicles amid a severe slump in global sales. Japan's No. 2 automaker said output in North America will fall by 29,000 units, affecting Honda's three plants in the region -- Ontario, Canada; Marysville/East Liberty, Ohio; and Lincoln, Ala. Due to the production cuts, Honda's overall output in North America will drop 12 percent to 1.26 million units in the fiscal year ending March 31. The... Full article...

Futuristic Car: Daihatsu’s little bug
This design concept for Daihatsu is a very bug-like concept. No name of it yet, but it is made by keeping space as the top priority. The car is very open from the inside and, as said before, space-oriented. Thus, you have loads of area for a lot of things, the best bit being the dashboard which allows you to customize even the audio system. So no need to go to the aftermarket shop to chop away a new dash and put one, when you can simply add your own without changing the structure. What’s better is... Full article...

Can You Guess Which VW Has Made The Hot Sellers List? Bet You Can't.
With gas prices being so crazy the past few months and the economy on shaky ground, you would think you might see a VW Rabbit or TDI on the JD Power hot sllers list. But you would be wrong.Of course cars like the MINI, Prius and Fit made it but would you think the VW EOS would be there?I sure didn't.Based on the chart, it looks like it's becoming the new Beetle, as the bug is the most traded in car on the EOS.THe EOS is definitely a 'Chick' car in my opinion, but I did enjoy driving it and I LOVED the... 2009 / 2012 Volkswagen New Beetle - Sneak Preview 2008
At first glance, a second-generation New Beetle doesn't make a lot of sense. After all, Volkswagen's German masters never wanted to build the current one. The original air-cooled Bug isn't remembered as fondly over there as it is here. The animosity was such that VW's U.S. designers worked on it in secret, and it was only after their Concept 1 was slipped quietly onto the Detroit auto show floor in 1994 and met with an explosive public response that management agreed to build the car. Even so, Germans... Full article...

Road Test: Volkswagen Passat CC
The Passat CC is Volkswagen's dishy new coupé version of the dull as dishwater saloon. But not every model is a motoring coup I drove a Mercedes-Benz CLS last Monday. It always seemed a ludicrously indulgent car on which to spend a manufacturer's development and marketing budgets, as it is broadly an E-Class saloon with a side view shaped like a banana, less room inside and some more exotic mechanical parts. But buyers love it, because it looks like a concept car. They can drive a little bit of... Full article...

Toyota tops GM global sales
General Motors Corp. fell behind rival Toyota Motor Corp. in the global sales race for the first quarter, dragged down by anemic U.S. vehicle sales and speed bumps elsewhere around the globe. GM sold 2.25 million cars and trucks worldwide through March to Toyota's 2.41 million vehicles, according to sales figures released Wednesday by each automaker. The Detroit automaker's global sales were down 0.6 percent in the first three months of 2008, an unusual decline for GM globally. Worldwide sales have been... Full article...
