Saab launches Pure BioPower Eco Clothing Collection
Saab has embraced E85 as an alternative fuel in Europe as a way to offer good performance and relatively good emissions using small turbocharged engines. Because ethanol has a higher octane rating than gasoline, boost pressure can be raised, allowing for a higher specific power output. It also helps that Saab already had a history of being quirky and using turbocharged engines in their vehicles. As an added bonus, it also gets to capitalize on the "green" aspect of the biofuel, and is leaving no... Full article...

Scion Hako Coupe Concept on New-York Auto Show
An unusual looking car was presented at the New-York Auto Show today by Scion. It was designed by a Tokyo team and represents a toy-like flat roof boxy vehicle. In general, if you associated Hako Coupe with a person, the first thought to hit your mind would be, it looks like a military officer. The creators of Hako Coupe Concept are definitely square lovers. Front and back lights, large upper grill, door handles and the whole top of the car are as rectangular as they can be. Seems like, if they put... Full article...

GM workers face hard sell on buyouts
General Motors Corp. next week will begin enticing thousands of veteran workers to leave the company for good by dangling the promise of a fresh start and maybe even a new car. The automaker, which badly needs to trim its ranks to help slash U.S. labor costs, says it won't coerce workers to take the buyout offers and retirement incentives going out to its hourly work force. But GM will try to put an upbeat spin on the daunting prospect of giving up the vaunted wages and benefits of a Big Three factory... Full article...

Scion planning to double lineup
After a bright start six years ago Scion’s sales have tanked and unless action is taken things are set to get worse. The Toyota budget brand sold just 130,000 cars last year, down 25% on the previous year, and officials are predicting volumes to remain unchanged this year. Most of the blame has been directed towards Scion’s limited lineup, although a weak car market was also a factor in the equation. Scion has developed a new turnaround plan, which involves adding a host of new models and several... Full article...
