Koenigsegg CCXR
Christian von Koenigsegg lines up his latest creation, the 2008 Koenigsegg CCXR Edition, at the start of his personal airstrip. It's a wide, finely grained blanket of asphalt located only 100 yards from the converted fighter-jet hangars in Angelhom, Sweden, where his company builds its cars. He eases out the clutch, gets the car rolling, selects 2nd gear, then 3rd, then nails the throttle. As you'd expect with more than 1,000 horsepower and a dry weight of 2,822 pounds, the CCXR's initial kick is... Full article...

2008 Greenwich Concours d'Elegance
Click any image to enlargeThe sights confirmed that it was was Car Guy Heaven, even if the weather was more reminiscent of Hell on Earth. That, in a nutshell, sums up the 2008 edition of the Greenwich Concours d'Elegance, a 2-day automotive carnival that never ceased to amaze, no matter how many times we walked around the grounds. Each pass seemed to reveal something new -- something we somehow missed just a few minutes earlier. As always, Day 1 was dedicated to American cars and Day 2 paid tribute to... Full article...

Top Gear producer talks about foreign editions
Top Gear Executive Producer Andy Wilman is aware of the acrimony that surrounds the apparently not-dead-yet U.S. edition of the show, and makes a case on the Top Gear blog for both the Yankee and Australian spinoffs that are marching their way towards prime time audiences soon. Wilman points out that Top Gear's success is not formulaic like other shows that have been churned in different locations all over the world. May, Clarkson, Hammond and the Stig aren't generic slots on the show that can be easily... Full article...

Europe's favorite SUV crosses to America
As a company, Suzuki often seems a riddle wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma, stuffed into a slightly shoddy handbag that smells of cheese. On the one hand, you have the motorcycle side of the company, maker of end-times miracles such as the Hayabusa and the GSX-R. These are completely and utterly fantastic bikes, virtually without peer, especially if you like going 300 mph in first gear. The company also makes scooters, ATVs and outboard motors, and I hear they are pretty good too. On the other... Full article...
