‘Avions Voisin’ name revived with new supercar concept
Just as Volkswagen Group’s Veyron supercar revived the longstanding Bugatti label, Portuguese-based designer Ernesto Freitas from Luso Motors envisages his new Voisin Concept injecting some life into France’s forgotten carmaker, Avions Voisin. At the moment his new Voisin Concept remains just a 3D simulated model but Freitas has plans to create a full scale model and hopes to display it at several international car shows. 2009 update for the Mercedes-Benz G-Class
Mercedes-Benz has updated a model that has been in production for 29 years and remains nearly identical to the original 1979 version. The model is the G-Class off-roader, short for Geländewagen cross-country vehicle, and despite being the longest-serving passenger vehicle in Mercedes’ 122 year history the SUV is subject to continual updating to keep it in touch with the latest in technology. While the exterior has largely been left untouched, the car has received several major updates to its... Full article...

2012 launch expected for Audi Q1
Audi bosses have hinted at launching a new compact SUV-crossover positioned below the recently revealed Q5 but an even smaller soft-roader is expected to be launched to help the carmaker reach its goal of delivering 40 different models by 2015. The new entry-level soft-roader is likely to be called the Q1 and latest reports claim it won’t come onto the market until late 2012 at the earliest. Rising fuel prices are causing buyers of large SUVs to downsize to smaller and more fuel efficient vehicles... Full article...

370HP Golf R32 by ABT Sportsline
The Golf R32 is by no means slow but the sheer number of tuning kits available for the torquey hot-hatch reveals there are a lot of people out there who disagree. The latest kit is from Germany’s ABT Sportsline, and although it’s not as nearly as potent as HGP’s 640 twin-turbo model, the new tuner R32 still packs some serious punch. The ABT Volkswagen Golf R32 is powered by a V6 engine with 370hp 272kW on tap. This is enough to propel the car from 0-100km/h in just five seconds flat, down from the... Full article...

Abt tunes the VW Touareg TDI
Turbodiesel motors are getting lots of press lately, and VW group vehicles are garnering much of that attention. Audi’s R8 looks to be getting a V8 TDI motor soon, and the Jetta TDI Cup in the U.S. is helping to bring diesels back into the American public’s consciousness, albeit slowly. German performance tuner Abt has already done most of VW’s lineup, but now it’s turning attention to the latest Touareg 3.0 TDI. Focusing on power upgrades and appearance modifications, the Abt... Alfa Romeo builds special edition ‘Mille Miglia’ Spider
Alfa Romeo has created a special edition of its Spider convertible in order to commemorate the historic Mille Miglia 1,000 mile race that takes place in Italy annually. The carmaker will build just 11 examples of the ‘Spider Mille Miglia’ to mark the 11 victories it’s had in the famous Italian race, which heralded the rise of the original sports grand tourer. While there are no performance increases, the Spider Mille Miglia is based on the standard 3.2 V6 powerplant that outputs 260hp... Full article...

Alfa Romeo Mi.To could replace 3-door 147
The new Mi.To hatch is already building a fan base on the back of its good looks and sporty potential, and now rumors are circulating that the diminutive hatch is actually the replacement for the smaller end of the 147 line, with the 149 replacement to be five-doors only and targeted more up-market. Alfa Romeo reportedly wants to sell about 150,000 units annually of both the Mi.To and the 149, to combine for 300,000 units, according to Dutch publication AutoTelegraaf.
