HSV Commodore range gets 6.2L LS3 powerplant
With the reveal last week of the LS3-powered Pontiac G8 GXP performance sedan at the New York Auto Show, it was only a matter of time until Holden announced plans for its own version of the car for sale in Australia. Today, Holden’s official in-house tuner HSV revealed changes to its 2008 E-Series Commodore lineup, including the introduction of the GXP’s LS3 V8 engine across the board. Unlike U.S. versions, the Aussie-spec LS3 delivers a peak output of 425hp 317kW, up from the GXP’s 402hp... Full article...

Mulally's replacement could come from within Ford... or maybe not
Joe Laymon isn't on the short list of successors for Ford CEO Alan Mulally, and it's unlikely you've ever heard of him, but if you want to get to the top at the Blue Oval, this is the guy you stop by Starbucks for on the way to work. Laymon is in charge of keeping a list of internal candidates ready in the event Mulally retires or quits, is fired or for some other reason exits his position, which could come as soon as 2011 when he turns 65. Both President of the the Americas Mark Fields and new... Full article...

Spy Shots: Ford Flex gets the woody treatment
Certain automotive fashions are better left in the grave. To wit: faux wood paneling. It looks good on the old Woody, but it's an absolute atrocity on everything else see: Griswold, PT Cruiser. However, spies have caught the new Ford Flex donning some woodgrain shelf paper paneling, and as much as FoMoCo is trying to redefine the people-mover/minivan segment with the Flex, this would seem to be a seriously counterintuitive move. We're hoping it's a joke, and for our money, it is.[source] Full article...

Ford set to announce sale of Jaguar, Land Rover to Tata on Wednesday
Could the protracted sale of Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford to Tata finally be coming to an end? After learning last week that Tata has secured the financing required to make the deal possible, reports are coming from London's Financial Times suggesting that the official announcement of the sale, reportedly worth $2 billion, could come as soon as on Wednesday, when Jaguar workers return to work after enjoying their Easter holiday. This sale, of course, follows up Ford's sale of Aston Martin, leaving a... Full article...

VIDEO: 2010 Chevy Camaro cruising to classic rock
Click above to view video Unlike a number of other drugs, the great thing about 2010 Camaro sightings is that you cannot OD on them. With that in mind, we bring you a lengthy Camaro video, this time of a black car being trailed by an "official" camera car. The great thing about this video is that it comes with its own theme music, and the great thing about that is that you know you're going to hear this song coming out of a lot of Camaros when they hit the streets next year. Maybe they'll even offer... Full article...

Rendered Speculation: Ford Capri reborn?
Well look at that, the quarter panel vent from the new Focus can look good! No need to complain yet that this is but another Ford we'll never see, as it may not happen on any continent. Auto Bild has gone to press with shots of a new Mercury Capri concept that is rumored to be the work of an extremely skilled PhotoChopper. We're also unsure if the details they cite about the car being a sub-3,000 pound 2+2 with 140-250 horsepower and a production date of 2012 are fanciful or rooted in truth, but none of... Bond trades in Mondeo for next-gen Ka
Few would argue that actor Daniel Craig revived the James Bond series with the movie Casino Royale in 2006. That film featured the Aston Martin DBS as Bond's personal whip, though he was caught driving what was then Ford's brand new Mondeo family sedan from the airport to the hotel, as well. It appears another one of Ford's more pedestrian offerings will make a cameo in the next Bond film titled Quantum of Solace that's scheduled to debut on November 7, 2008. The new cast member will be the next... Full article...

Farley may replace Ford's Mulally
Ford Motor Co.'s new chief marketing officer, Jim Farley, and the president of its Americas group, Mark Fields, are both on the short list of executives identified by the company to succeed CEO Alan Mulally. But Ford stressed any talk of Mulally's leaving is "premature." Joe Laymon, Ford's human resources chief, made public the names on his succession list for Mulally during an interview with Automotive News that was published Monday. Ford confirmed the details of that report, but said such planning is... Full article...
