Nearly half of all Challengers sold will be V6s
Just a few days after Bob Lutz told the press in New York that the Camaro could be getting a turbocharged four-cylinder powerplant, Chrysler has announced that it estimates 40% of Challenger sales will be V6-powered base models, like its competitor, the Ford Mustang. Although the company has been pushing the new Challenger as a muscle car with the images and video of its range-topping SRT8 model, which generates 425hp and 420lb-ft of torque from its 6.1L Hemi V8, it turns out the Challenger will be... Nissan GT-R mods hit the market
Despite fears Nissan ’s new GT-R wouldn’t tolerate anyone tinkering around with its innards, Japan’s industrious tuning firms have managed to develop a number of aftermarket parts claimed to boost performance of the supercar. Initial testing showed that even simple mods such as adding new wheels or breathing mods makes the ECU go haywire, but it appears Japan’s tuners have now cracked the code. Some of the big firms such as Mines, HKS and Top Secret are starting to fill their... Full article...

Another GT-R bites the dust
Click above for more pics of this bashed up Nissan GT-R This isn't the first Nissan GT-R to find itself looking like an accordion. We brought you another shattered GT-R in Hong Kong in early January, and a GT-R fender bender a few days later in Shibuya Tokyo. An Autoblog tipster just sent us a link to yet another bashed-up GT-R in Malaysia. As a purely objective observation, the latest incident does a decent job of demonstrating the integrity of the Nissan GT-R's safety cage. Too bad it's at the expense... Full article...

Hyundai confirms Avante hybrid for 2009
Hyundai has announced that it will begin to mass produce hybrid cars next year in a move certain to please an environmentally conscious market and which is likely to cement its position as a top five automaker. The new Hyundai hybrid vehicle will be called the ‘Avante’ and it will arrive by the middle of next year. In 2010, Hyundai will follow it up with a second midsize hybrid model and eventually a fuel-cell model in 2012. While hybrids have been around for years, Hyundai is predicting large... Next-gen Ford Ka stars in new Bond film
While most Bond fans will be salivating over the Aston Martin DBS in the new Bond film, the oddly named Quantum of Solace, fans of the Blue Oval can look out for the appearance of the next-generation Ka subcompact. We suspect the diminutive hatch won’t be 007’s primary mode of transport. Instead we envisage it being used in a similar fashion to the Ford Mondeo’s appearance in Casino Royale, a hire car Bond used to travel from an airport. You can catch a glimpse of the 2009 Ka right now in... Full article...

Lexus brand isn't flying in Toyota's home market
In trying to establish a Japanese-market foothold for Lexus, Toyota has seemingly fallen prey to the same tactic that made the Cadillac Cimmaron such a maroon. When trying to launch a brand, especially an upscale brand, it's not advisable to rebadge existing models and crank up the price. It doesn't seem to matter how good the car is, or how swanky the new $10-million-a-pop showroom is, once an Altezza, always an Altezza, and paying 20 percent more for the same car with a different logo is rightfully... Chrysler offering in-car web access later this year
Chrysler may be struggling with vehicle styling and interior quality, but the gang in Auburn Hills sure does love the gadgetry. Sirius satellite TV, heated and cooled cupholders, and Swivel-N-Go seating will soon be joined by in-car Internet access. The Washington Post reports Chrysler will utilize cell tower signals and a mobile phone account to make the radio a WiFi port, giving passengers access to the web. The technology will be offered as a dealer add-on for existing models later this year, and it... Full article...

Fast and Furious 4 will include a Hyundai Genesis Coupe
Click above for full high-res gallery of the 2010 Hyundai Genesis CoupeAccording to Inside Line, movie-goers should expect to see more tire-burning action from Hyundai's new Genesis Coupe than what's already been shown. It seems that the Korean car company has already sent Universal a bright red Genesis Coupe SE powered by the turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This news lends some credence to our opinion that the turbo mill will likely be the tuner's choice, though the big six cylinder is likely to be... Full article...
