The Rumors about Ram Separation Are True |
It has been announced before that Ram would separate from Dodge and function as an individual brand which makes commercial vehicles. Fiat is already planning and expansion of the Ram vehicles for 2012.
This spring Italian automaker has purchased Chrysler which owns several brands including Dodge. A lot of changes in the American company have been made since then; one of them is that Fiat thinks Ram is so popular that it should become a separate brand which specializes on commercial autos such as pickup trucks, vans, and SUVs. At the same time Dodge will be dealing with little vehicles only.
The Italian automaker is bringing two new commercial vehicles from Fiat Group in Europe in 2012 to expand the Ram brand. These are large and small commercial vans of the 2013 model year. It is projected that they will be Fiat Doblo, a compact delivery vehicle which looks like Ford Transit Connect, and Iveco Daily, a full-size delivery vehicle which has already received world-wide appreciation.
Being a part of Dodge line Ram was producing about 280,000 units per year. Fred Diaz, the president and CEO of Ram, says that after separation Ram is going to make 415,000 units annually.
