This is the third and final of the Kizashi concepts, the previous two were seen at the 2007 Frankfurt and Tokyo shows. Besides the Concept Kizashi 3 being the best-looking of the trio (all three were on hand in New York), it's also the most important because Suzuki says it will produce a sports sedan based on this concept's design for sale in North America by 2010. "Kizashi" is a Japanese word for "preview." The Concept Kizashi series was developed by Suzuki's Advanced Design Group "to reflect an athlete in motion, taking cues from a strong, honed physique while displaying the performance, strength and style befitting a flagship vehicle," Suzuki officials said. As over-fed automotive journalists, we're not very familiar with "strong, honed physiques," but the Concept Kisazhi 3 is clearly the best-looking Suzuki ever, apart from the company's GSX-R sportbikes. The Concept Kizashi 3's power comes from a 3.6-liter dohc V-6 with 300 bhp, and features plated cylinders. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters. It rides on 21-in. wheels, with tires sized at 255/30ZR-21 at all four corners. The car's overall length is 183.1 in., making it just a few inches longer than a BMW 3 Series. The flagship production sports sedan based on the Concept Kizashi 3 will be built at the Sagara plant in Japan (the facility is currently under construction). Suzuki says the goal for the new car will be to "provide an accessible alternative to the near-luxury segment."
