![]() Nissan debuted the NV2500 full-size commercial van concept in March, and it appears that work on the new vehicle is under way. The massive frame rails underpinning on this test vehicle and the heavy duty, eight-lug wheels show this is a serious commercial truck. This particular test car seems to be wearing at least some Armada sheet metal and probably does not represent the final design. The vents on the rear quarter panel also intrigue us. This probably means there is a battery pack somewhere at the rear for a hybrid powertrain. It's also possible the vents represent a hybrid system used to run power tools. Like the Dodge Sprinter, there will be variations of Nissan's new van. Cargo vans, passenger vans, flat beds and even a school bus configuration are possibilities. A 5.0L Cummins turbo-diesel should find its way into the new van along with other powertrain options. The NV2500 will go into production at the Canton, Miss., plant in 2010.
