Eco Factor: Concept car powered by electricity.

Concept car designer Liviu Tudoran has designed an eco-friendly electric car for Peugeot that complements the Lion image that we see in the car brand’s logo. The car, dubbed the Peugeot Leonin, is based on an electric engine mounted in the back of the car which is powered by a battery supply unit that rests under the front hood.

Tudoran says that if developed, his car could reach a speed of about 160 km/h and will have a range of around 500km, which seems fantastic for a car that has been designed especially for short distance travel in a crowded city. The car’s body will be made from aluminum composite, hard plastic, carbon fiber and glass. Instead of an interior rearview mirror, the car will be equipped with an LCD screen in the main console that shows the video captured by the hi-resolution camera mounted on the back of the car.

Tudoran states that if the car is mass produced its cost could be somewhere between €18,000 and €25,000, depending on the level of technological equipment inside the car.

The Dark Side:

The car’s fantastic looks, high speed, nice range and decent price makes the car worthy enough to enter mass production. However, the car could have been wonderful had the designer added some photovoltaic panels on the roof of the car.

And the name Leonin suits it perfectly, since it’s design does remind me of a lion. I just hope I got to see this in Chilton Autoshop and not remain in the drawing board.
