![]() Bryan Baker was watching "Verminators," a Discovery Channel television reality show about a pest control company, ISOTECH Pest Management Inc. What caught Baker's attention wasn't just the bugs, rodents and other crawly creatures that were being exterminated, but the fact that ISOTECH's pickups were equipped with truck caps produced by A.R.E., the Massillon, Ohio-based company where Baker works as director of marketing. Baker did some checking and learned that 90 percent of ISOTECH's fleet of more than 50 pickups was equipped with A.R.E.'s truck caps. He sent off an e-mail to learn more about the company. Company co-owner and TV show star Mike Masterson "e-mailed me back," Baker said. Masterson is a former celebrity bodyguard who met exterminator Kevin Alden at a Bible study, and they decided to go into business together, launching ISOTECH in Covina, Calif. The conversation between Baker and Masterson went from the Internet to the telephone, and soon A.R.E. and ISOTECH were working on a concept truck, the A.R.E. Exterminator, which makes its debut Oct. 28-29 at PestWorld 2009, the extermination business trade show in Las Vegas. The truck, a Toyota Tundra, also will be displayed at the automotive aftermarket trade show, the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show in early November in Las Vegas. It will then go into regular service at ISOTECH. Though A.R.E. equipment is prominently featured, Baker used a variety of aftermarket suppliers to outfit the truck, which demonstrates how a standard pickup can be customized to meet the needs of a very specific business application. Those parts include: • A.R.E. CX Series Truck Cap • BedRug from Extang Corp. • BedSlide from IFW • AluRack from Prime Design • MegaSteps from Luverne • Backup camera and monitor from SPAL USA • JetRack from A.L. Hansen The truck also will get a full graphics body wrap before its official unveiling. For information, visit www.4are.com, www.discovery.com or www.isotech.com.
