Organic Racing Car

An interesting idea came to the heads of a team of designers in England. They have decided to create a racing car built from natural materials that runs on waste products. Formula 3 car is mostly made out of recycled carbon fiber and runs on vegetable oil and chocolate waste.

Some features of the car come from famous brands: 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine is from BMW, chassis from Lola, brakes from AP Racing and suspension from Koni. However, there have been a lot of work done toward making the WorldFirst Racing car as “green” as possible: besides recycled carbon fiber, the designers used potato starch for wing endplates, recycled soybean oil foam for the seat and carrot materials for the steering wheel. Even the engine is partly organic: its lubricants are developed from plant oil.

The project followed the endless cry of many people who claim the races are too environmentally harmful. As a rule this kind of models are just experiments, but the WorldFirst Racing car is ready to take part in the next race showing its ability to compete with other racing autos. It meets all the requirements for the F3 cars except for the engine: biodiesel engines are not approved by the racing administration yet.
