New Police Cars from Chevrolet |
At the annual convention of the International Association Chiefs of Police in Denver, CO, General Motors has announced that it is developing a new car which will be able to carry Caprice police package for 2011. The Pontiac G8 based sedan will turn into 2011 Chevrolet Caprice police car with long wheelbase from Australian Holden Caprice and strong 6.0-liter V8 engine from Commodore SS.
In fact, the cars will be made with a choice of V6 and V8, but only second one will be available for 2011. The flex-fuel 355-horsepower V6 with cylinder-cutoff technology will be offered only in 2012 model year.
New Caprice police vehicles feature such important parts as heavy-duty suspension, standard 18-inch steel wheels, four-wheel disc brakes with heavy-duty pads, police-calibrated stability control system, high-output alternator and heavy-duty coolers for engine oil, transmission and power steering. The cars will also come with the standard sets of lights, sirenes and sounds.
The new cars can be ordered next year and will be delivered to various police departments in the beginning of 2011.
