First Alfa Romeo Competizione Comes to the U.S.

Alfa Romeo plans to make only 500 units of 8C Competizione and deliver some of them to the U.S. The limited edition car has 4.7-liter eight cylinder engine which outputs 450 horsepower and six-speed robotized transmission.

8C’s have to be ordered directly from Alfa Romeo’s headquarters in Modera, Italy. The Maserati facility has been specifically restructured for the production of the Competizione which started in the beginning of autumn. After all the 500 units are made Alfa Romeo will cease the production of 8C’s.

The first Competizione has already been delivered to America and came to its owner, car collector James Glickenhaus. He made himself famous with the one of a kind Ferrari P4/5 designed by Pininfarina.

Mr. Glickenhaus was so excited to get the Alfa that he decided to have a test drive as soon as the car arrived.
