Fiat’s 500 will make its world debut in just a few days at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, but the Italian automaker has decided to give us a sneak peak at the drop top’s interior. The official interior shots follow closely on the heels of a series of exterior leaked images. The 500 C will offer seating for four, although the rear seats will be a bit tight in true convertible fashion. The 500 C will also give up some cargo room for its convertible setup but, overall, the convertible version should be very similar to its hardtop counterpart. As previously speculated, the 500 C will do with a targa-style canvas convertible roof. That means the car’s door pillars will remain intact, giving the 500 C a unique selling point while simultaneously keeping costs to a minimum. Despite the rather simple targa setup, the 500 C’s roof will reportedly be power operate. The 500 C’s canvas roof will be available in black, red and ivory. Power for the 500 C will be provided by either a 70 horsepower 1.2L or a 100 horsepower 1.4L. A more powerful Abarth edition is expected, although there are no current plans to offer the 500 C with a diesel powerplant. All 500 C powerplants will come equipped with start-stop technology, which should improve overall by about 8 percent. The 500 C will first hit the UK market in spring 2009, with European sales following shortly after – just in time for summer. U.S. sales remain up in the air, but Fiat’s alliance with Chrysler means the 500 C could be on our shores sometime in the not-so-distant future.
