Daewoo Lacetti = Chevrolet Cruze |
General Motors is very determined about its foreign sales and the company announced about the start of assembling of Daewoo Lacetti in South Korea. The manufacturer is in a hurry to introduce the redesigned and upgraded car to the customers.
Daewoo Lacetti has 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine which provides 114 horsepower. It will be sold with five-speed automatic transmission, but by the customer’s request it can be changed to six-speed. The car is priced for $9,200.
The Korean version is the absolute clone of the American Chevrolet Cruze which was presented a few weeks ago at the 2008 Paris Auto Show. GM is thinking about postponing the production of the car in its own country, but the auto maker is definitely in a hurry to jump to the market in South Korea.
The American manufacturer is going to assemble Lacetti in Kunsan, South Korea, while Cruze is built in Lordstown, Ohio. There are also plans to push this model to the European market badged as Chevrolet and it will be assembled in St. Petersburg, Russia.
