Chevrolet Trax |
The Trax concept is one of three mini-cars Chevrolet submitted for public approval at the 2007 New York auto show. The shrunken four-door SUV has some telltale Chevy design cues, but the way the rear doors run almost to the swing gate recalls the outgoing Scion xA. Front and rear bumpers and fenders that are painted a different color than the rest of the body are characteristic of the early Honda Element (and probably should have stayed there).
Like the other models, the Trax has a unified grille/bumper that makes it look more substantial than one would expect from a mini car. The single rear taillights aren't signature Chevy, but they look right here, which can't be said about the doubles on the Groove.
An electric motor and battery pack drive the rear wheels, which makes this model the only hybrid of the three. The extra oomph allows the gas engine driving the front wheels to be smaller than the Beat's, at 1.0 liter.
The Trax has no interior. This isn't the latest in car design, it's due to the fact that it's an auto-show design study. Only the Beat has a real interior, and it looks expensive enough that it's probably not much more realistic in its existence than this one is in its absence.
