Audi Academy gets connected with Intrexx Enterprise Portal

London, 29 October 2009 - United Planet (www.unitedplanet.com), one of the leading developers of Enterprise Portal software in Europe, is pleased to announce that Audi Academy, one of the leading training and consulting institutes in Germany, has invested in an Intrexx Enterprise Portal to provide employees, managers and trainers with the information they need to run and attend the huge number of courses offered by the Academy.

As a subsidiary of AUDI AG, the Audi Academy plays a central role in competency development for the organisation. It has been successfully delivering company-specific training courses and consulting services in the areas of HR & Management, Information & Technology, CAD/PLM, trade and foreign languages to AUDI AG since 1993 but also provides a range of training courses and services to other companies in the automotive industry.

In order to provide up-to-date information about each of the courses in a clear and structured way, the Audi Academy took the decision to create an Intranet using Intrexx that would not only centralise information but could be easily accessed by students and trainers alike. The web-based portal software has enabled the Academy to improve communications with its team of professionals across its network of training sites in Germany. It has also ensured that students are able to gather all the information they need about a course, and the Academy site that they wished to attend, thanks to remote access.

The large number of ready-made application templates available for Intrexx allowed the Academy to establish a comprehensive information portal in a short amount of time. The ability to assign read and write authorisation in accordance with the employee’s job function within the Academy has meant that portal content can be maintained and up-dated with ease. The ability to arrange password-protected external access via the Internet has provided Academy trainers and freelancers with access to all the information they need to organise courses and prepare for meetings, independent of course location. Workflow associated with everyday business processes, such as booking rooms, vehicles or ordering lunch, has also been simplified.

Axel Wessendorf, managing director of United Planet, commented: “The ability to share business critical information via a web-based portal is particularly important for an organisation such as the Audi Academy where students, managers and trainers are located in a variety of geographically dispersed sites. It is also crucial that the amount of time and paperwork associated with organising a large number of courses is kept to the absolute minimum so that everyone involved can focus on what is really important – the development of skills that add real value to the business.”
