2009 Frankfurt Auto Show: Citroën Revolte |
The 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show had a lot of great vehicles which might become stars of the new generation. One of them is Citroën Revolte, the plug-in hybrid which became a “graphic quotation” of the famous 2CV, one of the most popular cars in France.
Citroën design chief, Carlo Bonzanigo says that Revolte was created specifically for the show because they had to come up with something that could compete the other powerful presentations. The hybrid was named Revolte because it represents “a revolution against the economic depression” and supports those manufacturers which could not come to the show. As any revolutionary movement the car was not made to last: the manufacturer does not have plans for production version of the Revolte, but might use its powertrain on some other model.
Revolution was not the only inspiration for the hybrid. Partly it was Parisian fashion: the car really looks like women's jewelry boxes and cosmetics. The interior in made in plush velvet which strongly reminds about theatre armchairs.
Revolte is designed to seat three adults, but it could hold a baby at a rear-facing front passenger seat too.
