After its successful debut last year, the 2008 Saturn Outlook returns with a new full-time all-wheel drive system and innovative safety options. The four-door midsize SUV is available in two trim levels – XE and XR – and comes with standard front-wheel drive or the aforementioned full-time all-wheel drive system for superior traction and control in a variety of road and weather conditions. All models share a powerful 3.6 liter V6 engine with Variable Valve Timing that produces either 270 horsepower in all-wheel drive models, or 275 horsepower in front-wheel drive models. Mated to the standard 6-speed automatic transmission, it supplies ample passing power and solid towing capacity – a maximum 4,500 lbs. The spacious interior boasts three rows of seats and an impressive amount of cargo room – 116.9 cubic feet with the second- and third-row seats folded flat. The 60/40 split folding rear seatbacks with Smart Slide easily slide out of the way for easy third-row access. New interior amenities for this year include an optional navigation system with integrated MP3-compatible audio system, voice recognition, CD player, and rear backup camera for easy parking maneuvers. An available DVD entertainment system features a flip-down 8” display with 2 sets of headphones to keep backseat passengers entertained. Comprehensive safety features include a multiple airbag system, with dual front airbags, dual side-impact airbags, and roof-mounted head curtain side airbags to protect passengers in all three rows in a collision. Standard 4-wheel disc anti-lock brakes have dynamic rear proportioning to balance the vehicle during difficult stopping situations. Standard StabiliTrak electronic stability control helps to keep the vehicle on track during evasive maneuvers. Using individual sensors, the standard tire pressure monitoring system keeps an eye on pressure, alerting the driver to any changes. The sensible, versatile 2008 Saturn Outlook boasts an impressive list of safety features and major cargo capacity, winning new fans in the automotive press and in the showrooms.
