2008 Essen Motor Show: Vw unveils Touareg North Sails Edition

The German auto maker Volkswagen linked up with North Sails, the world’s leading sail maker, to assist in the development of this special edition Touareg the objective of which was to lower fuel consumption with performance level remaining basically the same.

The Special Edition of the Volkswagen Touareg North Sails flaunts an improvement of 9 percent in fuel economy. This feat was obviously attained by doing some adjustments on the transmission points from the transmission to axle. Yet, putting the gigantic Touareg to run in less than 10 liters/100 km for the diesel variant is a truly remarkable achievement. Moreover, the German auto maker, Volkswagen, also maintains that the 2.5 TDI 6-speed manual can run at 9.2 liters /100km and the V6 TDI automatic at 9.3 liters /100km.
